Programs & Services
Programs & Services
We offer programs and services to residents in Southern Nevada at “no-cost.” We define our senior citizens as gently aging and are eligible for services through Helping Hands of Vegas Valley at the age of 60 and older.
Most programs require identification and proof of residency. Our pantry program asks for a little more information as it is federally funded and supported.
Any one of our Program Managers and/or Directors are available to answer any questions pertaining to any specific service we provide.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is provided to approved, assessed clients 60 years of age or older. Clients must provide proof of Nevada residency and complete an income statement. Services are at no-cost to our clients. Focus is on clients that are typically alone and frail, chronically ill, home-bound, and /or may be dependent on a caregiver.
Rides are provided to ambulatory as well as clients using assistive devices i.e., cane, walker, wheelchair, scooter, or oxygen. Additionally, rides are provided for medical appointments, grocery store shopping, and other errands as schedule allows. Non-ambulatory clients may be transported by staff drivers on vehicles with ADA ramps or lifts.
RESPITE CARE
Grants of $1000 are awarded to individuals caring for a senior 60 or over. These grants give the caregiver the opportunity to either have someone come to their home to care for their loved one for a few hours each week, have them attend a “daycare” program, or when necessary, place them in a care facility for a few days. All this enables the caregiver to take a break; enabling them to continue for a much longer period of time to care for their loved one in the home preventing unnecessary and/or early institutionalization of seniors so that they can age in place, consequently saving the state of Nevada Medicaid program hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.
PANTRY PROGRAM
Each month our army of volunteers delivers over 20 pounds of non-perishable food and 10 pounds of fresh produce to each of our homebound senior citizens. These clients use an online shopping site to order food from our inventory to get food delivered that they will eat. In addition to our delivery program, we also have a walk-in pantry for senior citizens who are not home-bound. They also use the online shopping program to select the food they want, and it is packed for them while they wait.

NUTRITION PROGRAM
Together, we can reduce hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition. Our program provides a space for socialization among older adults. We promote health and well-being and delay the onset of adverse health conditions. Our seniors enjoy a chef prepared meal among friends. They also have the opportunity to participate in an activity that stimulates the mind or encourages physical movement. In addition, we offer education and resources that our seniors can benefit from through trusted community partners.
